Our solid wood furniture is made to last. We choose hardwood for our solid wood furniture because we only accept the very best. Wood is made of approximately 50% water and has a cell structure that looks like a honeycomb. Quick-drying wood, such as pine, has relatively large cells and contains larger pockets of water - making it a softer wood. Hardwood, such as teak, grows more slowly, and therefore has smaller cells and less water. Solid wood furniture is much longer lasting. During the lifetime of a solid wood table, stubborn scratches and marks can be removed by careful sanding. Wharfside Furniture, based in London & Surrey in the UK, specialises in solid wood furniture.
